Bringing your pet dog, or cat to Great Britain
​
Overview
These rules apply to Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland). Check the rules on pet travel into Northern Ireland.
You can enter or return to Great Britain with your pet cat, dog or ferret if it:
has been microchipped
has a pet passport or health certificate
has been vaccinated against rabies - it will also need a blood test if you’re travelling from an country that is not ‘listed’
Dogs must also usually have a tapeworm treatment.
Your pet may be put into quarantine for up to 4 months if you do not follow these rules - or refused entry if you travelled by sea. You’re responsible for any fees or charges.

You should always keep your pet on a lead in public areas and please remember that you must always pick up after your dog. For information on the location of Poop-scoop bag dispensers or dog toilets please contact the 'Office de Tourisme'.
BEACHES:
Dogs are not allowed 'at all' on some beaches. Others only allow dogs in certain areas at certain times. and they may also be banned from the sea/canal/river ! It is very important to check which restriction apply to the beach of your choice.

IDENTIFICATION:
MICROCHIP OR TATTOO ! ID is required in France for dogs over four months old and cats over seven months old. Having pet ID is really important just in case your pet runs away or disappears.
RETURN TO UK FROM FRANCE info U.K. Govn. @ JUNE 2021:
1 has been microchipped
2 has a Pet Passport or Health Certificate
3 has been vaccinated against rabies
4 Tapeworm
A vet must treat your dog for tapeworm and record it in the pet passport or health certificate every time you want to bring it to Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland). The treatment must have been given no less than 24 hours and no more than 120 hours (5 days) before you enter Great Britain.
